Share with us your opinion on the proposals that were shortlisted for the final stage of the competition. From 29 May to 11 June 2023, the public has the opportunity to comment on the proposals. All the comments will then be summarized in a report that will be provided to the competition jury before its final meeting to select the winner.
The purpose of the competition is to identify and reward an optimal architectural and urban design solution for the development of the 4th Quadrant of Victory Square. The winning proposal must respect Antonín Engel’s master plan of Dejvice from 1924 and take into account the contemporary requirements for a multifunctional development of the highest environmental standards, creating a place for active social, economic and cultural life of Prague 6.
The competition site is an integral part of the Victory Square–a landmark at the heart of Dejvice locality. The current urban structure of Dejvice was initially established in the 1920s according to the master plan of professor Antonin Engel. The plan was based on a symmetrical composition with the Victory Sqaure at its central core. The north-western quadrant of the Victory Square had not yet been developed leaving the square composition incomplete and disintegrating the entire urban structure of the area. The Fourth Quadrant company collaborates with Prague University of Chemistry and Technology on the plan to develop the empty site finally completing the initial structure of Dejvice.
Key stakeholders together with the civic society were involved in the development of the Competition Brief. During May and June 2022 the public were able to provide their assessment of the current state of the competition area via an online questionnaire. The members of the consultation group, composed of the active citizens and key stakeholders had the opportunity to consult the Competition Brief framework. The results of the public participation became the basis for the development of the Brief. In the first half of year 2023 the members of the consultation group will have the opportunity to consult the selected competition proposals.
Apartments, offices, missing public amenities or a new cultural centre for Prague 6. All this is to be brought by the completion of the 4th Quadrant of Victory Square. The five finalists proposals of the international architectural competition will be presented in an outdoor exhibition right on Victory Square. The public will have the opportunity to comment on the proposals. Citizens' comments will be provided to the international expert jury before its decision on the competition winner.
The competition for the completion of the 4th Quadrant of the Victory Square has moved to the 2nd phase. An international jury has selected five teams that will work on a detailed design for the completion of Prague's third largest square and the centre of Dejvice. World-renowned architectural studios and award-winning Czech offices are among the multidisciplinary teams.
